What each profile covers
- Safety index: a Crime Harm Index composite built from SAPS station figures, weighted by offence severity rather than counting all crimes equally. It is relative to other Cape Town suburbs, not an absolute measure of safety.
- Schools: names, quintiles, no-fee status, learner-educator ratios and matric results from the Department of Basic Education.
- Property values: median valuations and multi-year change from the City of Cape Town valuation roll.
- Service delivery: C3 complaint rates and resolution times from the City's service request records.
- Household conditions: service access, tenure and economic structure from the City's 2024 household survey.
254 suburbs have a suppressed safety index, mostly where the suburb's share of its police precinct is too small to estimate reliably. Those pages say so rather than showing a number we cannot stand behind. The methodology sets out how every figure is built, and where it falls short.
